Adopt a Peregrine Falcon

The peregrine falcon has the most extensive natural distribution of any bird in the world, limited only by high elevations, extreme heat, and extreme cold. It is found on all continents except Antarctica, and can survive in a wide variety of habitats, including highly populated cities, deserts, and tundra. Their name comes from the Latin word peregrinus, which means "to wander". They are commonly referred to as the Duck Hawk, because they are known to hunt ducks, songbirds, and sometimes even bats, swooping in mid-air to grab prey with their talons. Peregrine falcons are the fastest flying birds in the world — they are able to dive at 200 miles per hour. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife.
