Adopt a Mountain Lion

The mountain lion, also known as a puma, cougar, panther, and catamount, is the largest wild cat in North America and can be found from the Florida swamps to the Canadian forests. Mountain lions are solitary animals that hunt alone at night or during the hours of dawn and dusk. Their diet consists of deer or smaller animals such as squirrels, raccoons and rabbits. They attack their prey from behind, breaking the neck with a fatal bite. After killing their prey, they will hide or bury the carcass and come to feed when hungry. Mountain lions have been eradicated of much of the former range in the east and compete with humans for habitat in west. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife. Adopt a mountain lion today!
