Adopt a Blue Crab

The blue crab is also known as the Chesapeake blue crab or the Atlantic blue crab and are striking to spot with their bright blue claws and olive color carapace. These crabs are strong swimmers due largely to their fifth pair of legs which are shaped like paddles. Blue crabs can be found along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts in estuaries and salt marshes. Recent reports have shown that blue crabs can be detrimentally impacted by climate change in a way that can also wreak havoc on the sensitive Chesapeake Bay ecosystem. Warming temperatures in the Chesapeake Bay are predicted to greatly impact eelgrass, a seagrass that provides essential habitat for juvenile blue crabs. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife. Adopt a blue crab today!
