Adopt a Bighorn Sheep

Two subspecies of bighorn sheep are protected under the U.S. Endangered Species Act: the Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep and the peninsular bighorn sheep. Although the entire bighorn sheep species is not currently threatened with extinction, the loss of these two populations is very serious as well. If the two subspecies are eliminated, we will lose important genetic diversity and force this species onto more narrow and limited ranges. Bighorn sheep can be found in scattered herds throughout the Rocky Mountains and Southwest. They like rocky cliffs, hills and mountains in both cold and hot climates. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife. Adopt a bighorn sheep today!
