Adopt a Black Bear

Black bears once enjoyed a large range throughout North America in forested regions, but are now restricted to relatively undisturbed, remote, and fairly unpopulated areas, including almost all of Canada, the Appalachian mountain chain, New England, and intermittently throughout other areas of the United States. The land that the black bear depends on for survival is being threatened by over-development. Their habitats usually include hardwood forests, but any area with a large amount of plants bearing berries and oaks bearing acorns will suffice for foraging. Black bear change habitats seasonally, depending on what fruits are ripe at the time, and the availability of acorns and hazelnuts. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife. Adopt a black bear today!
