Q: What are the dimensions of the inner chamber? And what is the distance from the bottom of the entrance hole to the floor of the inner box? Western and Mountain Bluebirds are slightly larger birds than Eastern Bluebirds and lay larger clutches of eggs. They require an entrance hole of 1-9/16 " ... an inner chamber of at least 5" x 5" ... and a 6-7 inch drop from the entrance hole to inner floor to keep them safe from crows and jays poking their heads in and snatching the nestlings. A 1-1/2" entrance hole will only serve the smaller Eastern Bluebirds.
