Adopt a Beluga Whale

Beluga whales are also known as white whales and are among the smallest species of whales. These toothed whales have a rounded head and no dorsal fin, and are mostly found in Arctic and sub arctic waters. Young belugas are dark grey or brown in color and fade to white as they mature. Belugas are social animals and generally live together in small groups, or pods – but can travel in groups as many as several hundred. They communicate using a diversified language of clicks, whistles, and clangs. One of the biggest threats today to the beluga whale is habitat deterioration in the form of industrial development and the pollution of coastal habitats. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife. Adopt a beluga whale today!
