Adopt an Octopus

Common octopuses have three hearts, eight arms, and no internal skeleton. One of the most striking characteristics of the common octopus is its ability to change its appearance and hide from predators by matching the colors and even textures of its surroundings using a network of specialized muscles and pigment cells in its skin. If discovered by a predator, an octopus will release a cloud of black "ink" to obscure an attacker's view allowing it time to swim away. An octopus can also lose a limb to escape an attacker's grasp and regrow the limb with no permanent damage. The main environmental threats to common octopus are the loss of habitat and reduction in its main diet of mollusks, crayfish, and crabs through excessive fishing or water pollution.
