Adopt an American Robin

American robins live in woodlands, suburban backyards, parks and grasslands with shrubs. Robins can be found year round in the continental U.S. and some migrate north to spend summers in Alaska. They love hopping around city parks and lawns looking for tasty earthworms in the spring, and fruit during the cold winter months. This foraging behavior is common to members of the thrush family. Male robins have rust colored feathers on the chest, a yellow bill, a black head and white outlines around the eyes. Males also have gray wings and backs. Female robins look similar to males but with much duller colors. It is also easier to identify males, because only the male robins sing their "cheerily, cheer-up" song. Their song is easily heard early in the morning, before and after sunrise and also at dusk. Help NWF in its efforts to protect and recover the wild places that sustain wildlife.
