Adopt a Warthog

Warthogs are found in woodlands and grasslands in most of Africa, south of the Sahara desert. A male warthog's "warts" are not really warts, but are actually thick protective bumps of skin which act as pads to cushion the blows when fighting with other males over females during the mating season. Warthogs feed on grasses and plants, and use their snouts to dig for roots or bulbs. They are the only pigs that are able live in areas without water for long periods of time. Warthogs often utilize the dens left vacated by other animals such as aardvarks, and will use these dens to give birth. Outside of protected areas, the warthog's range is declining. They are often killed for raiding wheat, rice and bean fields. Adopt a warthog today!
