Adopt a Moose

In 1985, as many as 4,000 moose roamed the woods and grasslands of northwestern Minnesota. By 2003, the number had plunged to just 237. What caused this alarming nosedive? Scientists believe that higher temperatures sparked by global warming have pushed these moose beyond the tipping point. Moose in northwestern Minnesota have had difficulty adjusting to unusually high temperatures throughout the year. These warmer temperatures have stressed the moose, making them less fit overall and more vulnerable to parasites. If temperatures remain high, moose — the very symbol of wilderness in northwestern Minnesota — may disappear altogether in that area. With your support, you can help NWF’s efforts to protect these majestic moose and other imperiled wildlife across America before it’s too late. Adopt a moose today!
